Our ACSI package arrived this morning, and we were a bit surprised to see so many campsites on their list. It also included a handy map for route planning.
At the moment, Portugal is looking the more favourite destination, and we’ll only be going for 60 days, since there are home insurance issues if we stayed away any longer.
All in all, the planning continues, and the excitement grows!

We got our internet up and running again today thanks to G’s patience with the Talk Talk help-line so I ordered the AA road Atlas for S and P and managed to stop myself from adding the Lonely Planet guide to walking in Spain. Err that is sort of saving money- honest!

We got back from Peterborough and after the usual post-trip jobs we got down to some serious financial planning. We’ve sent for an Acsi card for camping and converted our Tesco vouchers to offset the Eurotunnel costs (thanks to Russell’s handy guide). We’ll make some savings on heating costs for our house but the accommodation and fuel costs will be significant.
I’m determined to economise so that we can afford the trip. Maybe fewer new books for me will be a good start!

This is the first post of our hoped for/dreamed of trip to Spain and/or Portugal this Winter. We were happily chatting to Sally and Don at the Peterborough Rally when Sally and I got talking about Winter trips. She and Don have travelled extensively in Europe and America and are fonts of knowledge. Sally was so enthusiastic and drew me such amazingly vivid pictures of life on the road that I was soon imagining us in the comparative warmth of a Spanish winter, eating wonderfully fresh fruit and veg and walking along fabulous shores and up into hill and mountain trails. Gerald got a bit of a surprise when he re-joined me after his chat.
We talked late into the evening and made tentative plans. Exciting stuff!
