Bit of a messy day today. We had guests visit us, and although I did get out on the water, I took my posh camera with me. However, the sea was a bit more choppy than yesterday, and I didn’t want to risk getting my camera out of the dry sac I’d lashed to the foredeck. So, a bit of an ‘out-and-back’ day today, at 2.05 miles. When the sea calms down a bit, I’ll try for a longer paddle.

Just a little play in the sea today – 3.43 miles altogether.
This was the first time I used the GPS to track my position, which I could then transfer via a GPX file to Memory Map. All clever stuff.

Had a fairly quick paddle along the seafront at Walton. Played in the waves as the tide was coming in. About 2 miles, back and forth.

We met Tom at his house, with Estelle and Harvey. This was the first paddle with my new kayak, bought from the lovely people at :: Nucleus Watersports:: It is a Feel Free Atlantis 12, much more suited to open water than my small Dagger GTMax. :: Link here ::
We paddled from the launch beach, north-west across Point Clear Bay, and around St. Osyth Stone Point.
We bobbed around in Brightlingsea Creek for a while, before turning around, and heading for Ray Creek. We paddled against the strong tidal flow up the creek until the dilapidated jetty, and then turned around again and floated downstream until the beach.
Nearly 6 miles altogether.

We had a TCC organised paddle today – from Quay Lane, across the backwaters to see the seals. Then back to the launch beach for a barbecue.
I found it quite tough in my small kayak, although just bobbing around on the water watching around 20 seals basking, and swimming around, made it worth it.
We paddled from Kirby Quay, up Kirby Creek, across Hamford Water, and then up Oakley Creek where the seals were.

Another TCC-organised paddle today, from Nayland, along the river Stour, to Dedham.
This included going over Langham Flumes which, although the water levels were quite low, was interesting. We also went over a weir just below Nayland.
