Saturday night’s all right …

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

.. for going out again. It was up town (Brick Lane) with John and Sue and Rob and Les (and Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice maybe) to a Lebanese restaurant. I had a something I’ve forgotten since it’s so long since I wrote this blog for starter, and the main course was a mixed grill, with chicken and lamb which was gorgeous. Washed down with Lebanese beer and Cobra beer, with an aperitif of Adnams Broadside in the pub around the corner.

Friday night is pizza night …

… mainly because we couldn’t decide what to do. It was the end of spring term, so to celebrate we had nice pizzas from Tesco, with easter eggs from Tesco, and Cava from … Tesco. Time for some ad placements in this blog, methinks.

Wednesday pasta …

… although actually it was a small filled pasta, with a vegetable sauce, with loads of vegetables that were lying around in the fridge. Lots of garlic, easy on the green peppers.

If we did, I really can’t remember it. Sorry.

Special Saturday …

… which was the main meal of the weekend. We all cooked something - the starter from Del and Paul was salad with something. Sorry, D&P - can’t remember! It was lovely though. The main was from Les and Rob, who made a fish pie. Puddings were a really good chocolate cheesecake from us, which had really more chocolate than was good for us, and Monica and Ray brought cheesecakes and a lovely lemon tart from their prospective son-in-law.

Friday night is barn night …

… where we camped for the weekend with four other couples to celebrate Sue’s 60th birthday. Tonight, we had some vegetarian chilli that Sue brought from home.

Thursday and out (again) …

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

… this time to Ed and Julia’s (with John and Sue), where we started with canapes of thin toast and olive paste, and went on to a starter of soup (broccoli I think), followed by a main of a fish pie in pastry case. They tried to confuse us by following that with cheese and biscuits, which was then followed by a gorgeous summer pudding and creme fraiche. Lovely meal.
