The stairs are now installed properly, and Shaun has made a nice set of turning steps at the bottom. At least we can climb up to look now. It’s still cold, since all the bad insulation has been removed from the loft, and we’re waiting for pipes and wiring to be moved so new joists can be installed and new insulation put down betwen them.

Sean and Adam worked hard again today (I spent the morning in bed in the Motorhome) and the staircase is taking shape. The TV aerial was successfully moved to its temporary position and they cleaned up very well again.
Tess seems to be taking all this in her stride. She stays in the kitchen in between walks but is calm and unfazed no matter how loud the bangs and crashes from the hallway.

Both Adam and Sean were early and cheery and worked incredibly hard all day today. I felt lousy and there was loads of dust so I ended up in the Motorhome with the fan heater. They demolished the hall wall and had pre-made steps/stairs delivered p.m. They had packed up and gone by 4p.m. but had taken no breaks all day apart from a fag break or two outside for Sean. G asked Adam if it was possible to put a cover over the huge gap to keep some warmth in the house and it was sorted quickly and efficiently. The new stairs were in the house but not fitted, more tomorrow.

Monday morning we’re up and ready early so we don’t have to trip over rubble and builders from shower to bedroom but we needn’t have rushed. Adam (in charge guy, non-drinking ex professional boxer, charming and cheery but a bit of a schmoozer) arrived at 8.30 to say that they were ‘finishing off’ over the road and that Sean would be over to measure up and make a start. At 2p.m. G rang Adam and, funnily enough, he and Sean turned up two minutes later. Measuring up was done and we were able to have a chat about the work schedule etc.
